Adrian Beltre Leaves Game vs. Athletics After Suffering Hamstring Injury

Texas Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre was forced to leave Tuesday's game against the Oakland Athletics at Globe Life Park after suffering a hamstring injury, Rangers Vice President of Communications John Blake announced.

The hitter was 2-for-3 with two RBI in the game before coming out.

Beltre, 39, returned for his 21st MLB season in 2018. He came into the year having bashed 462 homers and 1,642 RBI, eclipsing the vaunted 3,000-hit mark with 3,048. He's added to those totals this year, hitting .310 with one home run and eight RBI for the Rangers.

The future Hall of Famer and four-time All-Star doesn't offer the same level of pop he once did, hitting fewer than 20 homers in three of the last four seasons coming into the 2018 campaign. He still plays a mean third base, however—he's a five-time Gold Glove winner—and remains a nice option in the middle of the lineup for the Rangers.

As milestones go, all that continues to elude Beltre is reaching 500 home runs and winning a World Series title. The first is unlikely. The second seems like a long shot as well, though the Rangers aren't out of contention just yet, though losing Beltre for any significant period of time won't help that cause.

While he's out of the lineup, the Rangers will have the option to move Joey Gallo to third base and try out prospect Ronald Guzman at first. The team could also slide Drew Robinson, who replaced Beltre Tuesday, into the starting lineup at third base.
