Twitter Explodes as Nick Foles Catches Trick-Play TD in Super Bowl 52

The Philadelphia Eagles brought some guts to Sunday's Super Bowl in Minneapolis.

Facing a fourth down from the New England Patriots' 1-yard line, Eagles head coach Doug Pederson elected to go for it. He busted out a trick play that resulted in tight end Trey Burton throwing a touchdown pass to quarterback Nick Foles:

With the touchdown reception, Foles made some history and even had some confusing him for Justin Timberlake:

While Foles was the one who scored, Twitter took notice of Pederson's risky and brilliant decision-making against the defending champions:

The play worked to perfection, as Foles was wide open for a touchdown.

It gave the Eagles more momentum in what was an impressive first half. They entered the halftime locker room with a 22-12 lead behind 215 passing yards from Foles. He wasn't the only one playing well, as wide receiver Alshon Jeffery tallied three catches for 73 yards and a score and LeGarrette Blount posted 58 yards and a touchdown on four carries.

Doug Farrar of Bleacher Report noted it is rare for Patriots head coach Bill Belichick to be outcoached on the biggest stage:

It wasn't just that the Eagles executed the trick play so well that caught Twitter's attention.

The Patriots also ran a similar play during the first half, but Danny Amendola's pass to Tom Brady went right past the quarterback's fingertips:

Philadelphia controlled play in the first half and built the double-digit lead, but it would be wise to take note of who is on the other sideline:

The Patriots know how to complete comebacks in the Super Bowl, although it appeared as if it was the Eagles' night when they succeeded on such a head-turning trick play.
