Anthony Davis Drops 43 Points, Logs Double-Double in 114-100 Win over Thunder
New Orleans Pelicans center Anthony Davis continued to carry a heavy workload Friday without his frontcourt partner, DeMarcus Cousins, whose season ended early with a torn left Achilles tendon last week.
The 24-year-old big man recorded his third 40-point performance of the 2017-18 campaign and picked up his fourth straight double-double in a 114-100 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder at Chesapeake Energy Arena.
Despite stepping onto the court as the primary focal point on the offensive end, Davis has found ways to score in bunches. Over the past two contests, the two-time All-NBA selection made five three-pointers, an area in which Cousins had been effective.
The Pelicans won their first game since Cousins' injury, and help is on the way. The front office acquired forward Nikola Mirotic from the Chicago Bulls on Thursday. He will suit up Saturday against the Minnesota Timberwolves, per Scott Kushner of The Advocate.
