Zanes Zeros Week Eight College Football Picks

I never had any luck picking winners, so in honor of Leonard Postero we pick the Losers. Enjoy!

Florida State at North Carolina

The Indians from the Capital City visit Opie, Andy, and Barney on Tobacco Road Thursday. There is unrest on the reservation in the Sunshine State, as the natives wait on Chief Bobby Bow to pass the peace pipe to the Chief in Waiting Coach JimBo.

Chief Bobby Bow is currently preoccupied with a Totem Pole building contest with another great chief, JoePa the Lion King, and that warrior just won’t stop building. Progress on the Totem Pole has been slow this season in Tallahassee and tribal leaders from the NCAA want to steal a section of it.

Meanwhile, Deputy Fife has been keeping up with the situation and has his bullet shined and ready. Sheriff Davis would like nothing better than to lock this group of troublemakers up in the cell with Otis and hide the key. This will be a tough battle, but if Deputy Fife can get his bullet in his revolver without blowing his leg off the Carolina crowd should be okay.

Tennessee at Alabama

Jethro has “volunteered” to take Uncle Jed and Granny on a road trip to Tuscaloosa to see a long nosed calf roaming the countryside of Alabama. The last time the Vols were on the field they found bubbling crude under the Dawg house in the backyard. This discovery excited them to the point of expanding their drilling expedition south of the state line in hopes of hitting the jackpot again.

This kind of speculating is frowned upon in the state of Alabama and most of the speculators that have wandered through didn’t have much luck and generally lacked the right equipment for the job.

Unfortunately with Jethro leading the caravan, the chances of this group finding any Texas Tea is greatly diminished, and frankly I don’t think he could hit water if he fell out of a boat.

Zanes Zero: Tennessee

Oregon State at Southern Cal

The Beavers leave their Corvallis dam to sunny Southern California to play the Trojans Saturday.

The Trojans are coming off of a narrow victory against Notre Dame and would like to take these Beavers out to the woodshed. The bucktooth varmints would like to sink their teeth into the Trojans and hurt their BCS chances.

Dam building in LA is a little tricky so the Beavers better bring their own building materials, otherwise USC will throw them back to the wood pile.

Boston College at Notre Dame

The patriotic peacocks fly into South Bend on Saturday to play the Irish in a game of who has the best looking helmets. The boys from Boston have not been to kind to their fellow golden domers in recent years and have been playing much better as the year has progressed.

Notre Dame has two heartbreaking losses this year—one at Michigan and last week's tough loss to USC. If Notre Dame is feeling sorry for themselves, Boston College will make it worse.

I think Notre Dame will bounce back this week and beat the Eagles for the first time in eight years.
