Alabama's Minkah Fitzpatrick Missed Game-Winning Play, Was in Porta Potty

Zac WassinkJan 10, 2018

The Alabama Crimson Tide defeated the Georgia Bulldogs in Monday's College Football Playoff National Championship Game when Alabama true freshman quarterback Tua Tagovailoa threw a 41-yard game-winning touchdown to wide receiver DeVonta Smith in overtime.

Alabama defensive back Minkah Fitzpatrick evidently first witnessed that moment via replay.

As explained by Charlotte Carroll of Sports Illustrated, Fitzpatrick appeared on ESPN Radio's Golic and Wingo on Wednesday, and the junior admitted that he was using a portable restroom as the season's biggest play occurred.

"I could tell which side was the Alabama side," Fitzpatrick said during the interview.

"Alabama's side was to the left side of our team and the Georgia side was to the right side of our team. So, if the left side started cheering I knew it was us and we got the first down or we scored a touchdown. If it was the right side, it was Georgia and I would have to go out on the field and go back on defense. That's how I knew what was going on."

When you gotta go, you gotta go.
