NFL Network's David Eaton Resigns After Tweets with Porn Stars, Escorts Surface

Tim DanielsDec 21, 2017

NFL Media vice president and executive editor David Eaton resigned from his executive role amid the NFL Network's sexual harassment investigation and revelations about his social media interactions with porn stars and escorts.

The Associated Press (via ESPN.com) received confirmation Wednesday of Eaton's decision to step down from the NFL Network. The news came one week after Laura Wagner of Deadspin provided details of the Twitter messages, which were deleted before his entire account was taken off the website.

Last week, TMZ Sports provided details of a lawsuit filed by former NFL Network wardrobe stylist Jami Cantor over "ongoing and continuing sexual harassment by current and former on-air talent," including former NFL stars Marshall Faulk, Warren Sapp and Donovan McNabb.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said the league would begin an internal investigation into the allegations.

"We take that very seriously," he told reporters. "Those are issues that are important to us. We want to make sure that all of our employees, whether at the NFL Network or at the league office or at clubs, are working in a safe and comfortable environment. Any time that doesn't exist, we are going to make sure that we deal with that very quickly and very seriously."

The Deadspin report noted Eaton's social media usage, which Wagner described as "sometimes mundane, sometimes racy, and often one-sided banter," had been an "ongoing subject of discussion among employees for quite some time."

Eaton joined the NFL Network in 2011 from ABC News.
