5 Most Likely Winners for Historic Women's WWE Royal Rumble 2018 Match

Donald WoodDec 18, 2017

WWE chief brand officer Stephanie McMahon made a blockbuster announcement during Monday's episode of Raw when she revealed the women of WWE would be participating in their own Royal Rumble match at the January pay-per-view.

With both Raw and SmackDown Superstars taking part in the women's Royal Rumble, the focus now shifts to which of the deserving talents will walk out of Philadelphia on January 28 with the victory.

Here are the most likely winners of the historic women's Royal Rumble.

Asuka

Out of all the women employed by WWE, there is no one who has been portrayed as strong as Asuka. With her undefeated streak still intact, the Empress of Tomorrow is the most likely to win the inaugural Battle Royal.

Not only has she made the successful jump to the main roster and dominated the competition, but she has also garnered favorable fan reactions and her character has the most upside heading into 2018.

Asuka should be the champion and a major focal point of the division coming out of WrestleMania 34, and the easiest way to launch her into the title scene would be to have her steal the show at the Royal Rumble.

Becky Lynch

There are several women on the SmackDown roster who deserve the honor of pulling off the victory in the women's Royal Rumble, but none are more worthy of the career-defining moment than Becky Lynch.

After being passed over time and time again despite being one of the most popular Superstars on the SmackDown roster, The Irish Lass Kicker winning the Battle Royal would set up a title match at WrestleMania against longtime friend and current champion Charlotte.

The storyline WWE Creative could weave coming off of a Lynch victory would be the catalyst for the heel turn Charlotte needs and the edge the Irish wrestler has been missing.

Paige

As the leader of Absolution and a former champion, Paige could cement her spot back at the top of the division if she were to use Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville to help steal the victory.

Paige has the WWE Universe buzzing about her return, and the company would be wise to follow it up with a monumental moment. What better way to show her dominance than by being the last woman standing at the Royal Rumble?

While she isn't the best option to pull off the victory, it would generate tons of heat if it were done in a heel fashion, thus creating Raw's unquestioned top antagonist in the women's division.

Nia Jax

One of the women not getting talked about enough as a possible winner is Nia Jax. As the most physically imposing female Superstar on the roster, she should be portrayed as the clear favorite heading into the Royal Rumble.

Just as WWE Creative does with Braun Strowman, Big Show or Kane, the bigger wrestlers always last longer and are the hardest to eliminate. Jax laid waste to Absolution on Monday night, so having her run through the women's roster is conceivable.

While Jax winning is hard to fathom since they have booked her poorly in the past, she deserves to be one of the final women standing and could easily walk out of Philadelphia as the inaugural women's Royal Rumble winner.

Rumors of Ronda Rousey possibly joining the WWE have circulated recently, and one way to have the crossover sports star debut with the company would be to have her as a surprise entrant in the Royal Rumble.

Despite her recent struggles in MMA, she is still one of the biggest stars in the world and a household name for many hardcore and casual sports fans. Letting Rousey debut at the January PPV would be a blockbuster coup for WWE.

If the company brings Rousey in, she should be in one of the main events of WrestleMania. The most believable way to put her in that position without it feeling forced would be letting her dominate the competition in the Battle Royal and earn the spot with a victory.
