Bray Wyatt Has Golden Opportunity for WWE Revival with Matt Hardy #Woken Feud

Tom ClarkDec 11, 2017

Matt Hardy is now Woken and WWE fans are more than excited to see it happen.

Hardy has finally brought his Broken persona to the company, ending months of speculation among the WWE faithful. The Woken Matt Hardy character is fresh, bizarre and, most importantly, fun. Hardy is back where he needs to be and it should be one wild ride.

But as Hardy embarks on this new chapter, it’s as if Bray Wyatt has been lost in the excitement.

Wyatt is the man that’s brought Hardy out of himself, putting him over the edge and bringing about the resurrection of Hardy's otherworldly character. It's the perfect move by WWE, especially considering Wyatt's own flair for the dramatic.

The first man to step up to Woken Matt must be a man that can approach this seriously and keep a straight face. Other opponents would be forced to laugh, to doubt and question why Hardy is suddenly doing what he's doing. Even in storyline terms, guys would surely wonder what's going on.

Perhaps even some fans would follow suit and do the same. So it's important that Wyatt is the initial feud for Hardy now.

The Eater of Worlds will not laugh at Hardy. He won't mock him or ridicule him. He will stare into Hardy's eyes as if there's no one else on the planet except the two of them. Wyatt is razor sharp and focused every time he enters into a new rivalry and that will definitely be true again.

This is the kind of war that Wyatt has always wanted. He finally has an opponent that sees outside of reality the way he does. Hardy will match Wyatt's eccentricity and raise him up to a new level. If fans thought Wyatt's promos were cryptic before, they've not yet seen what he can do when forced to up his game by Woken Matt.

This will breathe new life into Wyatt, reminding fans of why they loved him in the first place.

Hardy vs. Wyatt on Raw

Wyatt's character has always worked because, win or lose, he always believed. He's consistently been the same guy through every up and down. Whether he was in the main event or just cutting a promo, Wyatt remained the same creepy figure.

He's never lost that look in his eyes that drew fans in from his first appearance. He stared into the camera and delivered line after line of dialogue that came straight from a horror film and he did it without flinching. He had a conviction in his voice that was reminiscent of a fire and brimstone pastor instead of a pro wrestler.

Wyatt wasn't playing a character. Wyatt was real and believed in what he was saying. That's why fans never gave up on him and why they continue to appreciate him to this point.

Now he has an opponent that shares his passion for the theatrical. In Hardy, Wyatt has found a fellow enigma that will go on a journey into madness with him. He does not have to be alone anymore. This is the best thing that has happened to Wyatt since winning the WWE Championship and it should only get better from here.

Wyatt on Raw

Wyatt is still the same man he was before and he's still fully capable of putting on a great match on any given night. Wyatt was never the problem; it's his booking that always been suspect. But The Eater of Worlds is now once again in a top spot on WWE's flagship program and that's because of Hardy.

So now it's time for Wyatt to do what he does best. WWE needs him. Fans want him. Wyatt is one of the best characters that the company has presented for quite some time and now he has a chance to fully realize his potential once again.

He's right at home in this sort of angle and the best part is he can actually start winning some matches again.

The brilliance of Hardy's persona is that he does not always have to win in order to get over. Fans are so enamored with Hardy that his place on the list of title contenders is irrelevant. The WWE faithful would surely love to see him win consistently but if he doesn't, it's okay.

As long as he does win and entertains them along the way, that should be enough.

But this feud is extremely important for Wyatt. He must rise to the occasion here and be allowed to do what he can do in order to succeed. Wyatt may not ultimately win in the end against Hardy but maybe he doesn't have to.

Maybe this is about getting Wyatt back on the right track just as much as it's about taking Hardy to the next level. This feud is one that will benefit both men and should elevate Wyatt back to relevancy once again. It's up to WWE to finally get it right for The Eater of Worlds.

Hardy may be woken, but fans should not fall asleep on Wyatt.
