Golden State Warriors superstar and 2017 NBA Finals MVP Kevin Durant thought he opened the season with a game-winning shot versus the Houston Rockets at Oracle Arena on Tuesday night.

Replays showed otherwise.

The Warriors trailed 122-121 with under two seconds remaining when Durant collected a rebound outside of the key, took a single dribble and then drained a jumper to give Golden State a one-point victory.

However, closer looks showed the ball remained on Durant's fingertips as time expired, and the bucket was erased to give the Rockets a deserved road win.

Sometimes, basketball is a game of inches.
