WWE TLC 2017: Updated Match Card, Predictions for the Shield and Top Stars

Aaron BowerOct 17, 2017

In a pay-per-view dominated by the reunion of three men, WWE Tables, Ladders and Chairs 2017 has all the potential to be a spectacular show.

Aside from The Shield finally getting back on the same page to take on five of their biggest foes, there is plenty of other interesting aspects to the show, too.

Asuka's long-awaited main roster debut takes place this weekend, while the unmissable Enzo Amore goes in hunt of retribution and the opportunity to win back his WWE Cruiserweight Championship.

Throw in some other interesting midcard matches, and there's plenty to discuss ahead of this weekend. With that in mind, here's a look at what could be in store for The Shield and the rest of TLC's biggest stars on Sunday night.

Updated Match Card

1 of 5

Following the go-home edition of Raw on Monday night, this is what the card looks like for WWE Tables, Ladders & Chairs 2017:

  • The Brian Kendrick and Jack Gallagher vs. Cedric Alexander and Rich Swann
  • Kalisto vs. Enzo Amore (WWE Cruiserweight Championship)
  • The Demon (Finn Balor) vs. Sister Abigail (Bray Wyatt)
  • Asuka vs. Emma
  • Alexa Bliss vs. Mickie James (WWE Raw Women's Championship)
  • The Shield vs. Braun Strowman, The Miz, Kane, Cesaro and Sheamus (TLC match)

Asuka

2 of 5

The Empress of Tomorrow is coming.

After weeks of build and hype, Asuka will make her long-awaited in-ring debut on the main roster this Sunday at TLC, when she takes on Emma.

Emma won a multi-woman match recently on Raw to be the one who gets the prestige of wrestling Asuka first up this Sunday, but unfortunately for the Australian, she doesn't stand much of a chance.

It's obvious that while Emma may get some decent offense in throughout, there is only ever going to be one winner here.

Then we can begin to see what the WWE's intentions are for Asuka in the long run.

Enzo Amore

3 of 5

With Neville seemingly out of the picture in the WWE's cruiserweight division, it's all eyes on Enzo Amore to lead the brand moving forward.

The WWE told the story of Amore's integration into the division well in the initial weeks, with hostility aplenty from seemingly the entire division leading to Kalisto's title win last week on Raw.

But in a nice flip ahead of TLC this weekend, it seems that Amore has finally found himself some allies to fight his battles with.

Clearly, the emergence of Tony Nese, Drew Gulak, Noam Dar and Ariya Daivari leads to a 5-on-5 match at Survivor Series, one would suspect.

But this Sunday, before all of that unfolds, Amore will try to win back his Cruiserweight Championship. And at the risk of making the title something of a hot potato, it makes smart booking sense to get the strap back on Enzo as soon as possible.

This weekend feels like the right time.

Finn Balor and Bray Wyatt

4 of 5

To say Finn Balor vs. Bray Wyatt has been a disappointment would be an understatement.

The rivalry took another step backwards on Monday night when Balor delivered an uninspiring promo to lay the final seeds for what will surely be the blow-off match between the two on Sunday night at TLC.

With Balor wrestling as The Demon and Bray Wyatt incorporating the Sister Abigail character, both guys will aim to strike the final blow before moving in a different direction.

But who wins?

With Balor likely to head up the card after this, the argument is perhaps there that Finn needs this win more than Bray.

But, perhaps more importantly, it will take something special to convince fans the whole of this rivalry has all worked come Sunday night.

The Shield

5 of 5

Nobody knows how long the reunion will last, but The Shield are officially back together. And on Sunday night, they'll face a huge test with the numbers game—for once, at least—against them.

The return of Kane to the WWE and his subsequent addition into TLC's main event creates a strange dynamic for the WWE. With The Miz on top of his game, Braun Strowman's momentum in danger of being halted with a defeat and the prospect of The Shield losing unthinkable, what happens on Sunday night?

It would be a huge surprise if The Shield lost on their return to the fold. Similarly, with the numbers stacked against them, is it all that believable if they win?

Suddenly, the WWE has a difficult decision to make on Sunday night. The result, whatever it is, will surprise someone.

But even with Kane's return, the advantage and momentum is surely still with The Shield—but only just.
