Cancer and Sports Part 18 of Many: Pedro Martinez 8-) Chase Utley :-X

We lost - and inspite of a great effort by Pedro, Chase Utley cost us the game.  Utley's head has been up his Buttley (2 nights in a row????)!  I also took Jeff from a great appetite to turning down one last meatball.  So what?  It really is something to watch.   When the Phillies are winning and Jeff is cheering he also is munching and eating and drinking.  Right now he is lying on the bed looking like a sorry soul.   Following a win he is energized, ready to rock and roll. 

As for my take on the game (perhaps I needed not to watch again, ooops)...where were the bats?  We needed more that the 4th inning homer by Howard to win.  Where was the fielding, huh, Chase?  This is not the time to think about Jen and the lovely Philly weather we are not having...it is the playoff for the NL Championship! A team is as good as the weakest link and two nights in a row Utley has been a weak link, not the outstanding hitting or fielding we have come to expect.  Take him out behind the woodshed, Charlie!

 Jamie Moyer, Kyle Kendrick and Brett Myers...all are sitting and watching the game on TV.  Unfortunately, Jamie is injured because he provided a great deal of fatherly advice to the youngsters last year.  Myers was getting back into things and Kendrick, you never are quite sure if he will give you a few great go rounds.  JA Happ, the kid had the right stuff last year but has shown us very little.  Bull pen was going to be a problem and sure looks that way.  Can't blame Lidge for this one!

Back to life here - post losing game.  Things are quiet and only the dog seems happy as she nitpicks her stuffed doggie baby. She is making more noise than Jeff.  Too quiet, not even dessert.  Cancer patients need calories and my cancer patient eats when things are great and despite my best efforts at convincing him that he can eat after a loss, it does not work.

  We have Penn State Homecoming vs the Golden Gophers (I accidentally wore a Gophers shirt I grabbed from my closet because I thought it was a retro Phillies shirt and wore it to my sports café.  Got yelled at by my PSU customers too.  Felt stupid because we are playing them).  A Penn State win will at least guarantee a great snacking day tomorrow.  Sunday we have the Iggles (Eagles) and Fantasy Football - a day that might be very energizing.  No baseball, though.

Sunday at 8 Phillies are on again, at home, cold and damp.  And we need a win each day from now on because Wednesday is day one of chemo, round two.  I need a happy, hungry guy.  Get those bats warmed up and rest those pitching arms.  As for Chase Utley, redeem yourself and BTW, your screw up tonight turned my home back into Cancer Central 8-(
