Michigan Wolverines-Delaware State Hornets: Keys For Michigan

Run the ball-Michigan has Brandon Minor, Carlos Brown, Michael Shaw and Denard Robinson. There is no reason with all that speed and power that Michigan shouldn't run all over the field, let alone simply establish the run. DSU gives up over 200 yards per game on the ground, therefore this is the perfect matchup for Michigan's offense and Denard Robinson. Shoelace will run well against an inferior run defense.

Denard Robinson has a great game-Don't be surprised if Denard Robinson gets a lot of reps in this game, and really shows us what he has as a complete quarterback. Shoelace has began to shows glimpses of a solid passer after a slow start passing. He was two-of-eight passing for 18 yards and two interceptions early in the season. Iowa and Indiana combined, he was five-of-seven for 69 yards and one interception. With more snaps expect Robinson to relax a bit and show us what he has been doing at practice the last couple months with his arm. Oh and yeah, he's pretty fast too!

Michigan's defense plays well-Michigan gave up thirty points to Iowa, but in many ways played the best defense since the opening game. Michigan needs to feed off of that energy, and continue to play with intensity up front. They also need to use this an opportunity to develop better discipline in the secondary going down the Big Ten stretch. Delaware State averages less than 15 points per game against so so FCS teams. Michigan has a chance at a shutout for the first time in a while.

No foolish turnovers-Turnovers were the key in the loss to Iowa, where UM turned it over five times. In order for Delaware State to have a chance at an upset, they need to rely on Michigan to beat themselves, and of course take advantage of those mistakes. Michigan cannot have an excess of turnovers in this game. Michigan has to play disciplined regardless of who they are playing if for no other reason than to properly prepare for the rest of the schedule.

Don't underestimate the sting of the Hornet-Michigan should enter this game confidently just like any other game. However, they should NOT be arrogant. Michigan is a young team. Very young. The Wolverines are two plays from being undefeated, and also two plays from being the 2-4 team they were a season ago. This team is much better than they were a year ago, but they still need to prove it! Michigan needs to finish the rest of the season with a bit of a chip on their collective shoulders, and win this one big!
