Despite Loss At OU, Bears Still Looking Good Heading To Iowa State

Call me crazy, but I really felt good about Baylor’s most recent game—a 33-7 setback against the Oklahoma Sooners—despite the fact that we lost.

The defense looked remarkable; our receivers were catching everything thrown at them; and oh yeah, a freshman by the name of Nick Florence had the Bears down just a touchdown at the half, 14-7.

It was a gutsy and exciting performance by Baylor, and even though we lost, I believe we proved to the nation that we are a much-improved football team.

This coming weekend, the Bears will face a tough task by hitting the road once again for their second conference game—slated to kickoff at six p.m. on Saturday as Baylor faces Iowa State.

It’s always a daunting task to pick up a win on the road in the Big 12.

But these Bears can and must overcome such obstacles if they want to reach that bowl this year.

I believe they can do it.

In fact, I KNOW they can do—especially with a leader like Art Briles at the helm.

Briles knows what to say and how to say it.  In addition, he knows how to communicate with his players, and they respond well to him.

Bringing Briles to Baylor is probably just what the doctor ordered, and with a team built to withstand the pressure and problems these Bears have faced, it’s just a matter of “when” in terms of reaching that coveted bowl.

When Robert “Superman” Griffin III went down for the count against Northwestern State, many believed the Bears' bowl hopes and dreams were out the window.

You know what?

I still believe.

The guys on the Baylor football team still believe.

And Coach Briles and his staff still believe.

You remember back in the days when the Houston Rockets won those back-to-back NBA titles?  Remember what the Houston “motto” was during our times of crisis?

WE BELIEVE.

It’s amazing what can and will happen if we all put our faith and trust into the team that Baylor fields day-in and day-out.

We may be down a few family members, but we still can and will reach our goals.
Believing in each other is everything.

And it starts and ends with us as fans being loyal followers of our boys in green and gold.

Let’s get back on track this Saturday.

These Bears are heading in the right direction; now it’s time to reach out and grab that bowl game goal…
