John Cena, Roman Reigns Tease Fight on Twitter After Reigns Knocks Philly Crowd

Two of WWE's premier Superstars engaged in a war of words Monday on Twitter, as Roman Reigns and John Cena set the stage for a potential clash down the line.

Following Sunday's Battleground pay-per-view, Reigns commented on the fact that the Philadelphia crowd appeared largely disinterested throughout:

That prompted Cena—who defeated Rusev in a lengthy flag match on the show—to fire back at the Big Dog:

In response, Reigns laid down a challenge to the 16-time world champion:

Since Cena is now a free agent capable of appearing on either SmackDown or Raw, a long-awaited feud and match with Reigns could be in the cards.

As things currently stand, both Reigns and Cena are preoccupied with other matters from an on-screen perspective.

Reigns is set to face Brock Lesnar, Samoa Joe and Braun Strowman in a Fatal 4-Way match at SummerSlam for the Universal Championship.

Cena is feuding with Rusev, although transitioning into a rivalry with WWE champion Jinder Mahal is logical at this juncture.

There is little doubt that Reigns versus Cena is a WrestleMania-caliber main event, and it is the type of match that could help pack the Superdome in New Orleans for WrestleMania 34 next year.

Both Reigns and Cena have their fair share of vocal supporters and detractors, and it stands to reason that the crowd would be deafening during a showdown between them.

Since WWE seemingly views Reigns and Cena as arguably its two most marketable stars, there is plenty of incentive for the company to pit them against each other when the time is right.
