WWE fans will have to wait another week to know the No. 1 contender for Brock Lesnar's Universal Championship.

Samoa Joe and Roman Reigns were supposed to determine a challenge for Lesnar at SummerSlam in a singles match on Raw Monday night. Instead, Braun Strowman interfered, attacking both wrestlers and causing a no-contest.

During an interview on WWE Network, Raw general manager Kurt Angle said he'd address the situation on Raw next week, (h/t Kenny Williams of Wrestling News Source).

Reigns announced he would face the Universal champion at SummerSlam prior to Great Balls of Fire, but The Big Dog went on to lose an Ambulance match to Strowman.

Joe clashed with Lesnar at Great Balls of Fire, and although he fell short of winning the title, he took the fight to The Beast and pushed him to the limit.

With both Reigns and Joe believing they were deserving of a championship match, Angle decided to let them settle it in the ring.

That decision came on the heels of an intense segment during which Lesnar, Reigns, Joe and Paul Heyman had words with each other.

Despite his loss to Lesnar, the Samoan Submission Machine was as confident as ever, per this quote courtesy of WWE Universe on Twitter:

Lesnar was dismissive of Joe, although he did get in his face and attempt to intimidate him after Joe claimed Heyman was afraid of another Joe vs. Lesnar bout.

Reigns also verbally jousted with his rivals and claimed Joe would suffer the same fate as Strowman at Great Balls of Fire after Reigns temporarily crushed and trapped him in an ambulance.

Despite Reigns' newfound aggression, he arguably entered the No. 1 contendership match as an underdog due to his lack of success against Joe previously.

In two meetings on Raw, Joe held a pair of victories over Reigns, which is something few Superstars have been able to say in recent years.

Reigns and Joe have shown themselves to have great in-ring chemistry during their short time together on the main roster, and that was on display once again Monday.

Adding Strowman to the mix provides even more intrigue to the biggest event of the summer.
