NBA Rumors: Danilo Gallinari Reportedly Wants Chandler Parsons-Like Contract

As Danilo Gallinari heads into free agency, the Italian star has an idea of what he's seeking from his next contract.

Per Sean Deveney of the Sporting News, Gallinari is looking for "something in the range of a nine-figure payday over four years."

“From what we understand, he is looking for something similar to Parsons, a Chandler Parsons-type contract” one NBA general manager told Deveney. “There is a lot of risk there, but that’s where the market is. Get past those first few free agents, and he is going to be next in line pretty quick.”

Parsons signed a four-year, $94 million deal with the Memphis Grizzlies last summer. That deal was a bust, at least in the first year, as the 28-year-old was limited to 34 games and he averaged a career-low 6.2 points per game. 

Injuries are a relevant factor for teams to consider when deciding whether or not to offer Gallinari the kind of deal he wants. The former first-round pick has not played 70 games in a season since 2012-13 and missed 19 games last season. 

When healthy, Gallinari is an effective and efficient scorer. He averaged 18.2 points and shot 38.9 percent from three-point range in 63 games.
