Corey Kluber Breaks Team Record for Consecutive 10-Strikeout Games in a Season
Cleveland Indians ace hurler Corey Kluber finished Thursday's start against the Texas Rangers having allowed just one run on three hits and a walk while adding 12 strikeouts over eight innings.
Not only did Klubot continue his dominant ways in the contest, but he also broke a franchise record. With the 12 strikeouts Thursday, he has collected at least 10 strikeouts in four straight starts. That streak of excellence set the bar for most consecutive starts in a single season in Indians history with double-digit K's, per ESPN Stats & Info. It also tied the mark of four set by Bob Feller in 1938-39, though his starts came between two different seasons.

Kluber struggled early in the season, owning a 5.06 ERA through his first six starts before landing on the disabled list with a back injury. After nearly a month off, Kluber returned to the dominant form he's displayed in past seasons, allowing three earned runs or fewer in each of his last six starts. He's allowed two or fewer runs in six of the seven over that span and hasn't pitched less than six innings in any of the contests.
Cleveland has begun to surge in the standings in concert with Kluber's spectacular efforts on the mound. After starting 14-10 in April, the club finished May just 13-14 before rebounding to a 15-12 record in June. What's more telling is that the team has outscored its opponents by 35 this month, ranking in the top 10 in runs scored and the top five in ERA.
Kluber owns a 3.02 ERA following Thursday's start, down over two runs per game from his mark just before hitting the DL. He will attempt to lower it further and continue his strikeout streak in his next scheduled start next Wednesday against the San Diego Padres.
