How Can We Stop The Bleeding??? Leafs Are 0-6 To Start The Season
Hello “Leafs Nation.” Is there anybody out there? Maybe the bigger question is; How can we stop the bleeding?
I wasn’t expecting “ A Miracle On Bay Street.” Okay, okay, already…I know I said the Leafs would beat the Canucks in six games to win the Stanley Cup, but a 0-6 start is just unacceptable.
The Leafs put some emphasis on toughness during the off season going out and picking up Colton Orr and Garnett Exelby.
Mike Komisarek and Francois Beauchemin were added to keep our blue line and crease free of opposing forwards, and with Beauchemin we were expecting goals from the point, we finally got one last night from our highly touted defenceman.
After the first game against the Canadiens the “word” was…the players just needed some time to gel.” Okay so gel already, there’s only 76 games left to play
To be fair the injury bug is alive and well in the Leafs dressing room. First and foremost not one but both goal tenders are nursing injuries. In Toskalas’ case he may need more surgery…this time they should implant some goal tending skills in him. I’m sorry but Toskala just hasn’t performed as a number 1 Goal Tender since arriving at the ACC.
I’d like to see Mike Komisarek with the C on his shirt but so far he’s just spent way too much time in the penalty box. In time he’ll be the heart and soul of this team.
What happened to the team that was playing in the exhibition games??? What happened to the scoring??? We could talk all day about the goal tending issues but let’s face the facts; the team just isn’t giving the goalies anything to work with…like a lead.
I believe the best player on the team as of late and for quite some time actually is and has been Kaberle. He may not be the best hitting defenceman in the league or on the Leafs for that matter but he is steady and true every night.
With the current goalie situation and the long wait for our scoring saviour Phil Kessel the month of October looks like it could be a long dismal month for Leafs Fans.
If the “Blue and White” don’t start putting together some wins soon the city of Toronto may blow a gasket. They may start screaming for Jim Balsillie to buy the Coyotes and bring them to Toronto never mind Hamilton.
0-6 The worst start in franchise history. Is it time to hit the panic button yet??? Is it time to hang the coach????? Can we send the whole team down and bring up the Marlies???? I’m just looking for some answers here.
Hey Brian if you can hear me and the legion of fans who have been waiting 42 years for the Stanley Cup, “ Enough is enough, it’s time to put a winner on the ice. At the very least a contender.”
This is what you need to do Brian:
1. Select a Team Captain Mike Komisarek has the heart of a Captain, I think he’d go down with the ship if it were sinking but I think he’d try to repair the damage before the ship sunk.
2. Make the Monster the # 1 Goalie…Toskala just doesn’t have what it takes.
3. Trade Toskala…if you get a bag of pucks for him be happy we can use the pucks in practice.
4. Make sure Kessel is healthy and ready to go before playing him.
5. Young and hungry is always better than cozy and comfortable when striving to be #1.
6. STOP THE BLEEDING.
Hey “Leafs Nation” the season is still young. I still believe this team has what it takes to go all the way. They have heart, determination, and the skills, now if they can get lucky with a healthy goalie, maybe, just maybe they’ll start finding the back of the net and begin “tickling the twine” on a regular basis…wouldn’t that be nice????? Just BeLeaf and it could happen. That’s all “Sports Fans.”
