Carmelo Anthony's Wife La La Discusses Knicks Trade Rumors, Marriage
While Carmelo Anthony continues to be a member of the New York Knicks, his wife, La La Anthony, talked about the trade rumors around her husband.
La La was a guest on Tuesday's edition of The Wendy Williams Show and discussed her desire to remain in New York and to keep their family unit whole.
"The most important thing with just that is to stay close to Kiyan," she said, via NBC Sports' Dan Feldman. "That's my priority. That's his priority. So, wherever he ends up, of course we want him to be happy. I am hood, and I want to stay close to the hood. So, New York is definitely where I'm at and where I'm staying."
When asked if she had plans to divorce Carmelo, La La replied, via Antoinette Bueno of Entertainment Tonight, "Not right now. You know, marriages are tough, and you know that. We all know that. It's filled with ups and downs. We are just going through a time right now."
Knicks president Phil Jackson has not been subtle about his desire to find a trade partner for Anthony.
"We'd like him to have success," Jackson said at the NBA draft combine, via ESPN's Nick Friedell and Ian Begley. "The opportunity is narrowing. We'd just like him to have success somewhere. We're not going to be there. Hopefully, we'll be maybe a playoff team next year. It would be tough to consider us a possible champion."
Anthony holds some of the cards in any trade scenario because his contract includes a full no-trade clause, so he has to sign off on a deal before it can become official.
The Knicks have missed the playoffs each of the last four seasons and have lost at least 50 games in three straight campaigns.
