Pacquiao vs. Horn: Undercard Fights, Schedule, Odds and Predictions

Gianni VerschuerenJun 28, 2017

Shane Mosley Jr. will have the chance to take a major step forward in his career on the undercard of the fight between Manny Pacquiao and Jeff Horn, as he faces of against unbeaten challenger David Toussaint.

It will be one of three major bouts at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane ahead of the highly anticipated main event, and should be an excellent fight between two boxers with plenty of power.

Toussaint, a former electrician, has been on the fringes of Australia's top boxing scene for some time, and grabbing a win over the son of boxing legend Shane Mosley would surely launch his career to new heights.

Here's a look at the schedule for the card, via Jordan Davies of The Sun, complete with odds via Oddsshark.com:

Manny Pacquiao (241-20) vs. Jeff Horn (6-1)

Jerwin Ancajas (3-50) vs. Teiru Kinoshita (7-1)

Michael Conlan (500-1) vs. Jarrett Owen (11-1)

Shane Mosley Jr. (17-25) vs. David Toussaint (11-10)

For a fight taking place so far from boxing's main stages―the biggest stars don't usually fight in Australia―this card is filled with interesting prospects, and the televised bouts have a real chance of producing fireworks.

Boxing Kingdom is impressed:

Conlan is a major prospect, winning the bronze medal in the 2012 Olympics and making his professional debut earlier this year. The 25-year-old has already fought twice in 2017, winning both of his fights via stoppage inside three rounds.

Owen shouldn't challenge him much―he's won just five of his 12 career bouts―but the vocal home crowd in Brisbane might. Suncorp Stadium can house over 50,000 fans and is expected to be near capacity. All of those fans will be backing the local hero, and it will be interesting to see how Conlan deals with that.

IBF junior bantamweight champion Ancajas had nice words to say about Conlan, via Rappler's Ryan Songalia:

His title defence against Japan's Kinoshita is meant to introduce the Filipino to a mainstream audience. Kinoshita isn't big on power, with just eight career wins via KO, but he is durable and should put on a show.

Per Songalia, it's a major step forward for Ancajas:

Both Conlan and Ancajas are expected to cruise to easy wins, but Mosley Jr. could face a real challenge against Toussaint. Stamina has been an issue for the 26-year-old, and his next opponent is a true blue-collar fighter who has won eight of 10 fights via KO.

Mosley Jr. needs to look good on a major undercard to continue his rise up the rankings, but for Toussaint, this fight could be a life-changing event. With the Brisbane crowd undoubtedly on the side of the Australian, don't be shocked if this bout ends in an upset.

Predictions: Pacquiao, Ancajas, Conlan and Toussaint walk away with wins.
