Brock Holt Transferred to 60-Day DL with Head Injury

Adam WellsJun 24, 2017

The Boston Red Sox did some roster shuffling on Saturday, with utility man Brock Holt being transferred to the 60-day disabled list.

Per MLB Roster Moves, Holt was moved to the 60-day DL to make room for pitcher Doug Fister on the 25-man roster.

The move comes more than one month after Red Sox manager John Farrell told reporters Holt experienced a recurrence of vertigo that originally landed him on the disabled list April 21.

When Holt was originally placed on the 10-day DL in April, he told reporters the flu-like symptoms he suffered from during the second series of the 2017 season was also when his vertigo issues began.

"I was feeling a little weird in Detroit," he said, via Jen McCaffrey of MassLive"That's why I wasn't in the lineup for a while, trying to get past it. I played yesterday, but it still kind of lingered around. I tried to take some time off and get this thing right so I can be back out there and feeling normal."

Holt has only appeared in six games this season. The 29-year-old was an All-Star in 2015, but he has hit just .249/.322/.370 in 100 games over the past two seasons.
