A's Franklin Barreto, Matt Olson and Jaycob Brugman Each Hit 1st Career Home Run

Three Oakland Athletics rookies hit their first career major league home run in consecutive innings during Saturday's game against the Chicago White Sox.

In his 20th career MLB bout, Matt Olson went deep in the opening inning against James Shields. The following frame, Jaycob Brugman homered after going 14 games without an extra-base hit.

Franklin Barreto, MLB.com's No. 44-ranked prospect, wasted no time joining them. Promoted earlier in the day, the highly touted shortstop cleared the fence in his second career plate appearance.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle's Susan Slusser, no trio of teammates has achieved the same feat in over a century.

The A's, who entered the day 32-42 and 17.5 games behind the Houston Astros in the American League West, are embracing their young talent. The three newcomers can together celebrate their moments at the expense of the 35-year-old Shields.
