Undrafted Isaiah Briscoe, Melo Trimble to Play for 76ers Summer League

The Philadelphia 76ers came to terms Friday with two of the biggest names to go undrafted in Thursday's 2017 NBA draft in the form of Kentucky guard Isaiah Briscoe and Maryland guard Melo Trimble.

Adam Zagoria of ZagsBlog reported that Briscoe signed on to take part in summer-league games for the Sixers, while the Philadelphia Inquirer reported Trimble's agreement.

Briscoe spent two seasons with the Wildcats and was a key contributor in 2016-17 with 12.1 points, 5.4 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game.

Meanwhile, Trimble was a three-year player for the Terrapins who led the way with 16.8 points, 3.7 assists and 3.6 rebounds per contest last season.

Both players are highly athletic and excel at driving to the hoop, but they are lacking in terms of shooting range, which likely contributed to their going undrafted.

Philly came away from the draft with a good haul, as it selected Washington guard Markelle Fultz at No. 1 overall and landed some international prospects.

Even with Fultz in the fold, the Sixers are in need of additional backcourt depth.

Ben Simmons figures to feature prominently as a ball-handler if healthy, and T.J. McConnell did some good things last season, but guard play has been the 76ers' biggest deficiency in recent years, which means both Briscoe and Trimble will be given every opportunity to make the team if they perform well.
