PSG Transfer News: Blaise Matuidi Open to Exit, Latest Rumours

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Blaise Matuidi is "listening attentively" to approaches from other clubs and is increasingly uninterested in the idea of remaining at the Parc des Princes, according to his father, Faria.

He explained that his son had previously been open to staying at PSG but is no longer happy with his situation at the club, particularly after the arrival of new sporting director Antero Henrique, per Le Parisien (via The Independent):

"A few weeks ago, Blaise was more interested in staying at PSG. Now the situation is much more mixed. PSG, and in particular their new sporting director, have been slow to reveal their intentions. For that reason we’re listening attentively to the advances of other clubs. There's a feeling, rightly or wrongly, that everything said [by PSG] in the past few months is now part of ancient history."

Per The Independent's report, Manchester United are potentially the leading candidates to sign the France international as they see him as a "ready-made replacement for Michael Carrick."

The 30-year-old only has a year remaining on his contract, so the summer was always likely to be a key time in which he either signed a new deal or left the club.

Matuidi has also been linked to Italian clubs AC Milan, Inter Milan and Juventus by his agent, Mino Raiola, per La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Jonathan Johnson of ESPN).

The Frenchman joined PSG from AS Saint-Etienne in 2011 and has since won four Ligue 1 titles with the club.

He was still a key part of manager Unai Emery's side last season as he played 34 matches in the French top flight, netting four goals and providing four assists, per WhoScored.com.

But it is becoming increasingly unlikely Matuidi will still be at the club next season.

The quality of the reported suitors for Matuidi is of little surprise, as he is a fine player who also boasts UEFA Champions League experience, while his combination of physicality, work rate, intelligence and versatility is hard to find in a central midfielder.
