Aguero found himself frequently on the bench last season following the arrival of Gabriel Jesus but still managed to end the season with 20 Premier League goals from 31 appearances, perย WhoScored.com.

The Argentina international could find competition for places even more fierce next season, with reports Manchester City will sign Alexis Sanchez this summer.

Per Gerard Romero (viaย Metro), the Chilean has agreed to move to Pep Guardiola's team this summer, although a fee still needs to be agreed.

Aguero also said that while any club would want Messi in their side, there is little chance of him leaving Barcelona:

"There isn't a team in the world that would not want to have Messi as a player. But I think he is doing pretty well at Barcelona. So I think he will stay there until the end of his contract, because he is growing with Barcelona and has grown into one of the best players in the world."

According to Sport's Vero Brunati, Messi has agreed a new Barcelona deal that will run until 2021, with an official announcement expected next month.ย
