Manchester City Transfer News: Latest Rumours on Kyle Walker and Dani Alves

Gill ClarkJun 20, 2017

Manchester City must reportedly pay Tottenham Hotspur £45 million this summer, if they are to land Kyle Walker

Per Jeremy Cross at the Daily Star, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy will play hardball over the full-back, and is refusing to lower the club's valuation.

According to the report, City are closing in on a deal for Dani Alves, but they want Walker as well, with Pep Guardiola keen to bring in two new full-backs.

Walker has established himself as one of the best defenders in Europe during his time at Spurs, helping the club boast the meanest defence in the Premier League last season.

His performances have also seen him become a regular for England, where he impressed NBC's Arlo White during England's recent World Cup qualifier with Scotland:

Per the report, City are willing to offer Walker a contract worth £100,000-per-week, and Guardiola wants the deal completed before the end of June.

Per Sam Lee at Goal, Dani Alves has already verbally agreed a two-year deal to join Guardiola's side, and a move could be announced shortly.

The Brazilian must, however, resolve his contract situation with Juventus first, with Sky Sport Italia's Fabrizio Romano reporting he could rescind his current deal, making him a free agent:

Alves enjoyed a superb season in Turin, winning Serie A and helping Juve to the final of the Champions League, where they finished runners-up to Real Madrid.

The Brazilian's performances going forward were a particular highlight in Europe, with Alves creating more chances than any other defender:

City have already strengthened this summer by bringing in goalkeeper Ederson and Bernardo Silva from Monaco.

However, signing Walker and Alves would not only boost the backline, but would add to an already formidable-looking attack.
