Juventus Transfer News: Bianconeri Enter Race for Gianluigi Donnarumma
Juventus have reportedly entered the race to sign AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, even though La Liga giants Real Madrid are favourites for the precocious 18-year-old stopper.
Juve general director Beppe Marotta told Italian source Corriere della Sera that the Bianconeri will pursue Donnarumma (h/t David F. Sanchidrian of AS): "Yes, Juventus will try to sign Donnarumma."
Marotta believes a club of Juve's stature is duty-bound to compete for a prospect as highly touted as Donnarumma: "Juventus are obliged to go for [the signing] when a player of his level is on the market."

Sanchidrian noted how megarich Ligue 1 outfit Paris Saint-Germain will almost certainly attempt to thrash out a deal for the Rossoneri 'keeper. However, he also said "Real Madrid are a formidable competitor in the transfer market."
It's clear Donnarumma will have his pick of teams this summer. No doubt such interest is what prompted the teenage sensation to not sign a new contract with Milan, a decision club CEO Marco Fassone revealed at a press conference.
It's hardly surprising Juve have reacted favourably to the news. After all, Bianconceri No. 1 Gianluigi Buffon is 39.
Buffon's age has prompted a search for a successor, with the Old Lady already linked with Arsenal back-up Wojciech Szczesny. Manager Massimiliano Allegri confirmed the club's interest in the Pole when speaking to Sky Sport Italia (h/t ESPN FC's Ben Gladwell).

Szczesny is a talented goalkeeper, albeit a frustratingly inconsistent one. Yet Donnarumma is a burgeoning marquee star at the position.
Securing his signing would ensure Juve remain the main power in Serie A.
