The move brings an end to a two-season spell at the Allianz Arena for Costa following his ยฃ21 million move to Bayern fromย Shakhtar Donetsk in July 2015.

Earlier today, Bayern chairmanย Karl-Heinz Rummenigge revealed the two clubs were in "serious talks" about Costa, per ESPN.co.uk's Ben Gladwell: "We are in negotiations and I would say these are positive and very serious, but I cannot say it is a done deal today."

Costa has likely been deemed surplus to requirements after Bayern agreed a deal to sign Real Madrid wide forward James Rodriguez on a two-year loan, per BBC Sport.
