Lakers Looking to Bring Lonzo Ball in for 2nd Workout, Markelle Fultz for 1st
The Los Angeles Lakers are doing their due diligence before settling on a player for the No. 2 pick in the 2017 NBA draft.
According to Brad Turner of the Los Angeles Times, Lonzo Ball will get a second workout with the team. Potential first overall pick Markelle Fultz will likely also work out for the team, per Mark Medina of the Los Angeles Daily News.
Ball on Wednesday had his first visit with the Lakers, the team he and his father, LaVar, would like him to join.
According to Medina, L.A. was impressed with "his leadership potential, passing and scoring." On the other hand, the former UCLA point guard was reportedly out of shape.
Meanwhile, Fultz had a two-day visit with the Boston Celtics, which he called "a good experience," per Chris Forsberg of ESPN.com. The Celtics own the No. 1 pick, and the former Washington guard said he was unsure if he would visit other teams.
Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer had reported Fultz would not work out for anyone else. It seems he changed his mind and could visit the Lakers in case Boston goes in another direction on draft day.
The duo still appears likely to be selected No. 1 and 2 in the June 22 draft, but the Lakers are making sure they cover their bases.
