5-Star Clemson Commit Xavier Thomas Suffers Minor Injuries in Car Accident
Clemson Tigers commit and 5-star defensive end Xavier Thomas tweeted Monday that he escaped a serious car accident with minor bruises and scratches.
According to Thomas' post, he was forced to swerve in his truck to avoid hitting a deer. Upon doing so, his vehicle flipped over and collided with a tree after he hit a ditch. Thomas also said he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Thomas later tweeted: "There is no excuse for it but I was not wearing my seatbelt b/c I was thinking short term and the hotel was 1/2 mile away from where I went. Trust from now on, I will definitely wear it no matter the distance."
According to Scout.com, the IMG Academy standout is the sixth-ranked player overall and second-ranked defensive end in the class of 2018.
In the South Region and state of Florida, Thomas grades out as the No. 1 player at his position.
