Cancer and Sports Part 15 Of Many (WTG Phils, Lites Out Lidge and Jeff)
Gotta' love those Fightin' Phils!
Last night the Phillies did it ...and today Jeff did it - he returned to work. It is totally amazing how watching the Phillies (Eagles, Flyers) win can totally change the demeanor of someone with cancer. Today I had a woman Phillies fan come in to the café for lunch with the exact same buzz cut as Jeff and battling cancer. She came because we not only have great food but to see the Phillies memorabilia. She will be back Sunday to watch the playoff home game on the 102" TV. Jeff will be there too. It is the next best thing to being there - neither of them is up to that. For a few hours they are just fan(atics) like the rest of us...cancer can wait!

Jeff returned to work today - energized - but an idiot woman greeted him with "you poor, sad looking thing." Word to the masses reading this blog...never greet anyone like that, especially someone with cancer! He sent me an email and asked what to reply...I said F...U! Best I could come up with at the moment. Hate to digress from sports but this needs to be mentioned!
Back to the Phillies...I must thank Brad Lidge for getting his mojo back in time to help Jeff get his back. Tonight is a baseball free evening and no football either. I am hoping that sitcoms on TV will be enough of a distraction. I am so determined to see the Phillies to the WS and a repeat that I made the ultimate sacrifice and left the room for the 8th and 9th innings last night (listened tho'). So this fan will do what ever needs doing - including not jinxing her team by watching - so that the Phillies sweep the Dodgers and go right to the World Series. The better they play the better Jeff gets.
