Nadal is the favourite after playing a stunning tournament so far, but Wawrinka should give him his toughest challenge yet.

Nadal will be wary of the task at hand on Sunday, as Wawrinka has proved a tough customer throughout this year's French Open. As shared by Ben Rothenberg of the New York Times, the Swiss has stood out for his attacking tennis and solid groundstrokes:
The 32-year-old has spent a lot more time on the court than his opponent and needed five gruelling sets to gets past Andy Murray in the semi-finals. Nadal's road to the final has been much smoother―the 31-year-old has dominated each of his opponents so far.
Yelp's Carl Bialik put the Spaniard's dominance into numbers:
Nadal's form throughout the clay season has been smooth, barring a slip-up in Rome. The loss against Dominic Thiem might have helped him prepare for the French Open, and he took revenge on the Austrian in emphatic fashion in the semi-finals.
In 18 meetings, Wawrinka only has three wins over Nadal, with just one coming on clay. All of those wins have come since 2014, however, and the Swiss is clearly a better player than he was earlier in his career.

Consistency remains an issue, however, and Murray should have taken advantage of some of the Swiss' lapses in the semi-finals. Nadal likely won't make the same mistakes―the King of Clay has been something of a machine in this tournament, and his ruthless efficiency should serve him well in the final.
Wawrinka's best bet is to take as many risks as he can and not stray from his biggest strengths. His attacking mentality has served him well in Paris so far―there's no reason to change strategies just because Nadal is up next.
