Scotland will host "Auld Enemy" England at Hampden Park on Saturday when the pair clash in their 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier.

The Three Lions top the group and will be looking to extend or at least maintain their four-point lead at the top of Group F.

Scotland's most realistic ambition is to finish second and most likely make the play-offs, and they're currently two points behind second-placed Slovakia.

Scotland will be hoping their home advantage and the hostile atmosphere of Hampden helps them out on Saturday when they take on an unbeaten England side.

Gareth Southgate's men are yet to concede in five qualifying matches, and while they haven't been particularly free scoring having converted just eight, they netted almost half of those in a 3-0 win over the Scots in November.

Scotland's last victory over England on home soil came in 1985, but despite their status as "massive underdogs," defender Charlie Mulgrew believes his team-mates are relishing the upcoming clash.

Per BBC Sport, he said:

"They are a top side. Every one of their players are world class and it is going to be difficult for us, but we are up for it and we will be ready for it when the game comes.

"I think everyone in the squad has confidence in their ability and that shows out there in training. The standard is very high, the tempo is very high. Everyone is buzzing."

As for England, they will have to make do without Jamie Vardy after he pulled out of the squad injured, per Simon Peach of the Press Association:

Nevertheless, with Harry Kane, Jermain Defoe and Marcus Rashford remaining, they should still have plenty of firepower, with the trio netting 61 goals between them in all competitions last season.

The Scots will likely raise their game against the Three Lions during the match, and they could nick a draw if they're able to nullify their attacking threat.

It's difficult to see past England taking the three points, though, given their imperious qualifying form and superior quality all over the pitch.
