Matt Garza Placed on 10-Day DL with Chest Injury; Travis Shaw Activated
The Milwaukee Brewers announced Wednesday they placed starting pitcher Matt Garza on the 10-day disabled list with a chest contusion.
The team also activated third baseman Travis Shaw, who had missed the Brewers' last two games while on paternity leave.
Brewers manager Craig Counsell will have to act quickly, since Garza was slated to match up with Johnny Cueto in Thursday's series finale against the San Francisco Giants.

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
Garza has been solid on the mound for Milwaukee in 2017, posting a 3.83 ERA and 4.13 FIP in 44.2 innings, per Baseball-Reference.com. The numbers are a marked improvement from 2015, when he had a 4.94 FIP and got bumped from the starting rotation.
Having Shaw back will be a nice boost to the lineup, though. His 10 home runs are second on the team behind Eric Thames (15), and he's the team leader in RBI (40) and batting average (.292).
According to FanGraphs, Shaw's 1.2 WAR is second-highest among position players on the Brewers, with Thames in first with 1.9 WAR.
