Derek Norris Being Investigated by MLB After Abuse Allegations by Ex-Fiancee
Major League Baseball is investigating Tampa Bay Rays catcher Derek Norris after allegations of domestic abuse, according to Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com.
Norris' former fiancee, Kristen Eck, made the allegations Monday on her Instagram account.
"One year ago I left the person I thought I was going to marry," Eck wrote. "I had beautiful moments with a man and I fell in love with a sense of humor and authentic soul that I wanted to spend my life with. I also was physically and emotionally abused by this beautiful man. He gave me a lifestyle most people only dreamed of, but it came at a price."

She never mentioned Norris by name in the post, though Crasnick noted MLB Central identified her as Norris' fiancee in a 2015 interview.
The catcher is in his first season with the Rays after he signed a one-year deal in March. He has also spent time with the Oakland Athletics and San Diego Padres and earned an All-Star selection with the A's in 2014.
