The 26-year-old has been linked with a move to the Spanish capital for years. He's never hidden his admiration for Blancos coach Zinedine Zidane, telling reporters the former France international is one of his idols, per France Football (h/t Metro's Louis Sealey).
The speculation peaked during the 2015-16 season as the Blues slumped to a disappointing campaign. Both the club and Hazard improved their form drastically this season, and the rumours disappeared somewhat as a result.
Hazard has been with Chelsea since 2012, winning two Premier League titles and the UEFA Europa League. UEFA Champions League glory has so far evaded him, and after such a lengthy spell in west London, he could be ready for the next step in his career at the biggest club in the world.
A summer move seems unlikely, though. Hazard still has plenty of years left on his current contract, but the Belgian appears destined to represent the Spanish champions at some point in his career.
