Andy Murray and Stan Wawrinka booked their spot in the next round of the 2017 French Open on Saturday with routine wins over Juan Martin del Potro and Fabio Fognini, respectively.

Both needed just three sets to close the deal, wasting little energy on another hot and humid day. Simona Halep and Caroline Wozniacki also grabbed relatively easy wins.

Both Murray and Wawrinka didn't waste too much time on Saturday, even if Del Potro and Fognini forced tiebreaks and flashed their talent.

The former pushed the top seed all the way in the first set and maintained his challenge in the second before fading toward the end.

British Tennis was impressed by Murray's showing:

The match could have played out quite differently, as Del Potro showed flashes of dominance in the tiebreak and perhaps should have sealed the deal. Murray's class won out in the end, however.

Wawrinka's win over Fognini followed a similar pattern, as the Italian forced a tiebreak in the first set. He fell well short of the expectations afterward, however, and Wawrinka cruised to the finish line.

There were other great performances in the men's draw, as Fernando Verdasco and Marin Cilic barely broke a sweat in easy wins. Meanwhile, Kei Nishikori was pushed hard by Hyeon Chung, who had the Japanese on the ropes by the start of the fourth set.

Nishikori completely lost his composure and smashed a racket, but luckily for him, the rain arrived just in time, per Ben Rothenberg of the New York Times:

In the women's draw, Halep and Wozniacki took care of business, while Agnieszka Radwanska won just three games in a loss against Alize Cornet.
