Mike Tyson Says Conor McGregor Would Look Ridiculous Boxing Floyd Mayweather
Former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson isn't bullish on Conor McGregor's chances if he eventually finds himself squared up against Floyd Mayweather Jr. in the ring.
“No, I don’t believe it can ruin boxing at all," Tyson said Friday of the potential superfight, according to SiriusXM Sports (via FoxSports.com). "Only way it can ruin boxing is if McGregor goes and boxes Floyd because he’s going to look really ridiculous boxing him."
Much to Tyson's dismay, McGregor and Mayweather Jr. will trade blows in a sanctioned boxing match if the fight is ultimately made.
As UFC President Dana White told TNT's Inside the NBA last month: "It's going to be straight-up boxing."
While White continues to try to hammer out financial parameters with Mayweather's side to make the dream fight a reality, McGregor has started preparing as he begins his transition from mixed martial artist to boxer.
"We are training now," McGregor's coach, John Kavanagh, told ESPN.com's Brett Okamoto. "We're ready for that date in the fall, whenever that might be. We'll let the lawyers and suits deal with the nuances of who gets this and who gets that."
