Arsenal Transfer News: Lucas Perez's Agent Says Striker Wants Exit, Top Rumours

Rory MarsdenJun 1, 2017

Striker Lucas Perez is eager to leave Arsenal just a year on from joining the club after becoming frustrated with his lack of game time, according to his agent, Rodrigo Fernandez Lovelle.

Perez's representative told Press Association Sport that the Gunners have already been informed of his client's desire to depart (via ESPN FC): "The idea is to be able to play for another club. We want to leave, and Arsenal already know. Do you know anyone who is happy but has no opportunities?"

Arsenal signed the Spaniard from Deportivo La Coruna for £17.1 million in August 2016.

He was brought in ostensibly to compete with Olivier Giroud for the No. 9 role, but in 2016-17, manager Arsene Wenger mainly used Alexis Sanchez as a striker—and with good reason, as the Chilean netted 24 Premier League goals.

It effectively meant Perez was the third-choice striker during his debut season at the Emirates Stadium, limited to only two league starts.

Outside of the English top flight, he played three EFL Cup games, four FA Cup ties and three times in the UEFA Champions League—which included his hat-trick performance against FC Basel in December—per WhoScored.com.

It is no surprise, then, that he wants out of north London. A return to Depor could be a possibility, per PA Sport.
