Tracy, Scioscia Managers of the Year
Manager of the Year
National League
Jim Tracy, Colorado – There wasn’t a better manager during the season’s second half and the Rocks nearly overcame a 15-game deficit against the Dodgers in the West.
Joe Torre, Los Angeles – A division title despite the Manny debacle and the rash of injuries, especially felt on the pitching staff.
Tony LaRussa, St. Louis – Kept a Mod Podge group in contention until the trade deadline. It was all beautiful baseball from there.
American League
Mike Scioscia, Los Angeles – With sky-high expectations Scioscia delivered a 97-win season and division title. The tragic death of Nick Adenhart would have ended the season early had it not been for the skipper’s leadership.
Ron Gardenhire, Minnesota – The Twins had no business winning the Central, especially after the loss of Justin Morneau. The fight and determination to catch Detroit can’t be ignored.
Ron Washington, Texas – The Rangers are division champs had they played in the AL Central. Instead, they competed with the Halos until the final month of the season.
