Dolphins Willing to Trade 22nd Pick in 2017 NFL Draft to Acquire More Picks
Miami Dolphins general manager Mike Tannenbaum acknowledged the team is willing to discuss potential trades with teams regarding picks in next week's NFL draft.
"When that opportunity becomes available, we'll measure it against the board, what our needs are," he told reporters. "We'll see what happens. Sometimes you get a trade offer that's hard to say no to."
Omar Kelly of the Sun Sentinel reported the Dolphins could move the No. 22 overall selection with the goal of adding more depth to their roster.
Miami has seven draft picks; it is missing its fourth- and sixth-round picks but does have three selections in the fifth.
Moving back would continue a pattern of movement similar to what Tannenbaum did last season, when shuffled picks to add Laremy Tunsil and sent out a future draft pick for the rights to wideout Leonte Carroo.
The Dolphins are coming off their first playoff season since 2008, so Tannenbaum has far less pressure than he had a year ago. Their roster still isn't nearly stacked enough to compete with the always-reloading New England Patriots at the top of the AFC East, but adding depth in a few areas (notably on defense and the offensive line) will help make up for Miami's offseason spending spree.
