According to Deadspin's David Bixenspan, tensions had started to rise between JBL and Ranallo of late: "When Mauro Ranallo, his play-by-play announcer on SmackDown Live, recently won the Wrestling Observer Newsletter’s “best announcer” award, he tweeted about it. Layfield, apparently seeing this as a personal affront of some kind, tore into Ranallo on Bring it to the Table."
Accusations of JBL's bullying were also reportedly profiled in Justin Roberts' new book, Best Seat in the House: Your Backstage Pass Through My WWE Journey, according to Wrestling Inc's Raj Giri.
As for Ranallo, CBSSports.com's Brian Campbell cited a source who said Ranallo is not expected to return to WWE's SmackDown coverage even though his contract runs through August.
