Colorado Rockies Catcher Tony Wolters Rips Cover off Ball, Reaches on Error

In the bottom of the seventh inning against the San Diego Padres on Tuesday night, Colorado Rockies catcher Tony Wolters tore the cover off the baseball.

Literally.

The 24-year-old clipped a Miguel Diaz offering off the end of his bat, and the cover actually came off. It caused a bouncing throw from Diaz, and Wolters was able to reach first base safely.

Colorado held on to win, 3-2.
