Geovany Soto 7th Player with Multi-Homer Games for Both Chicago Teams
Chicago White Sox catcher Geovany Soto launched his second home run of the game in the seventh inning of Thursday's tilt against the Detroit Tigers, finishing the day 2-for-3 with four RBI and two runs scored.
The bomb capped off the Tigers' explosive day at the dish in an 11-2 victory over the Tigers. It also made Soto just the seventh player in major league history to post a multi-homer game for both the White Sox and the Chicago Cubs, per the Elias Sports Bureau (via ESPN Stats & Info).
Soto has always had a decent stick, but his best campaign came with the Cubs in 2008. He caught 141 games for the club that season, batting .285 with 23 home runs and 86 RBI. The veteran backstop hasn't matched the season since, partially because he's had issues staying healthy. Soto hasn't played more than 99 games behind the dish in a season since 2011, falling just one game short in 2012.

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
The 34-year-old has played for five different teams over the course of his career, spending seven of his first 12 seasons with the Cubs. Soto has also played for the Texas Rangers, the Los Angeles Angels, the Oakland Athletics and is beginning his second stint with the White Sox.
Soto doesn't figure to serve as an everyday catcher for the club this season. The 25-year-old Omar Narvaez received the start behind the plate on Opening Day and figures to see a significant chunk of starts there this season. Soto will likely see more starts than the average backup catcher but is at the point in his career where he can no longer start every day.
The White Sox as an organization have also entered a rebuilding phase, trading ace Chris Sale to the Boston Red Sox and center fielder Adam Eaton to the Washington Nationals in the offseason. Soto will likely be charged with serving as a veteran presence on the club this season with a lot of young names potentially getting their first taste of the majors later in 2017.
