Corey Davis Reportedly Has 2-Day Visit with Browns Before 2017 NFL Draft

Tim DanielsApr 4, 2017

Western Michigan University wide receiver Corey Davis is reportedly set to begin a two-day visit with the Cleveland Browns on Tuesday.

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network confirmed Davis will become the latest prospect to visit the Browns, who own the No. 1 and No. 12 overall selections in the first round of the 2017 NFL draft.

Davis caught 331 passes for 5,278 yards and 52 touchdowns across four years with the Broncos. The dynamic playmaker set new career highs in each category during his senior campaign, racking up 97 grabs for 1,500 yards and 19 scores, which tied for the most in the nation in 2016.

Bleacher Report's Matt Miller ranked the 22-year-old Illinois native as the second-best wideout and the No. 10 overall prospect in the 2017 class on his latest big board.

Davis didn't take part in on-field work at the NFL Scouting Combine while recovering from January surgery on torn ligaments in his ankle. He expects himself to hit the ground running once he's drafted and the offseason work gets underway, per Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press.

"I don't think it should (affect my draft stock) because my game tape is not too shabby," he said. "And I'll be good by minicamp, so that's really what matters."

It's unlikely Cleveland views him as a legitimate option at No. 1, a spot where the front office is likely to select either Texas A&M defensive lineman Myles Garrett or a quarterback. But he could be a nice addition to the offense at No. 12.

The Tennessee Titans, Los Angeles Chargers, Buffalo Bills and New Orleans Saints all have a need at the position and could swipe Davis before the Browns get their second pick of the round, though.
