Nikki Bella to Take Time off After WWE WrestleMania 33 Due to Neck Injury
WWE Superstar Nikki Bella confirmed she's taking time off following WrestleMania 33 at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida, on Sunday to recover from lingering neck problems.
On Saturday, Brad Davis of SE Scoops passed along the news from Bella, who noted she has a "slight herniation" in her neck during an interview ahead of the show tabbed the "Ultimate Thrill Ride."
Bella returned to action at the SummerSlam pay-per-view last August after nearly a year away from the ring due to neck surgery.
In September, the two-time Divas champion told Gilbert Manzano of the Las Vegas Review-Journal she overcame long odds just to make it back to WWE.
"Before my surgery, there was a chance that this would be career ending, and there was a 99 percent chance that it was," Bella said.
She added her return came with "certain rules" in an effort to make a safe transition back to competition.
Her recovery was a storyline on both Total Divas and Total Bellas, WWE-based reality shows that air on the E! Network.
Most recently, she's engaged in a feud alongside real-life boyfriend John Cena against The Miz and wife Maryse, setting the stage for a mixed tag team match at WrestleMania.
Bella didn't provide a timetable for how long the latest setback could keep her away from wrestling.
