The Associated Press has named Washington's Kelsey Plum the Player of the Year in women's college basketball, while Connecticut coach Geno Auriemma was named Coach of the Year.

Plum became the all-time leading scorer in NCAA history this season, while Auriemma has led UConn to 111 consecutive wins heading into this weekend's Final Four.

Auriemma is no stranger to this top honor, winning the Coach of the Year award for the ninth time. He has 11 national titles and is going for his fifth straight championship this season. The team has already earned its 10th straight Final Four appearance.

However, the job this season might be one of the best we have seen from the 63-year-old coach. The team lost the top three picks in the WNBA draft, but instead of rebuilding with a young team, the squad simply kept winning behind sophomores Katie Lou Samuelson and Napheesa Collier.

Meanwhile, Plum deserves plenty of recognition after averaging 31.7 points per game this season for Washington. The senior set an all-time record for points in a season with 1,109 as well as a career mark with 3,527.

She helped lead the Huskies to the Sweet 16 before losing to Mississippi State, a team that will face Connecticut on Friday in the national semifinals.
