WWE Raw: Burning Questions to Address After March 13 Show

Ryan DilbertMar 14, 2017

As the WrestleMania 33 card comes into place, Braun Strowman is among the WWE Raw Superstars whose spot on the grand stage remains uncertain.

Strowman crashed into Roman Reigns on Monday's Raw, clearly not done trying to break The Big Dog in half. Reigns, though, is set for a date with Undertaker at The Showcase of the Immortals on April 2. What about Strowman then?

Will he be added to that bout to make it a Triple Threat match, or will he have to find another fight at the pay-per-view?

Former universal champion Finn Balor's WrestleMania status is up in the air, too. After recovering from a shoulder injury he suffered last summer, Balor returned to the ring at a house show over the weekend, as WWE.com noted.

The Demon King didn't show up on Monday's Raw, leaving even less time to incorporate him into WWE's WrestleMania plans.

Austin Aries, meanwhile, looks ready to challenge for cruiserweight gold. And Dana Brooke is now a solo act. What's ahead for those wrestlers? Where does Strowman go from here? What's the plan for Balor?

The following is a look at all those questions, breaking down the biggest unknowns to emerge from Raw's visit to the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit.

When Is Balor Coming Back?

Monday's Raw came and went with no sign of Balor. The Demon King is finally healthy enough to compete again, but WWE chose to hold out on reintroducing him to the red brand.

Balor toyed with fans before the show when he referenced Raw in a tweet:

Is WWE going to wait until WrestleMania or the night after to welcome the former NXT champ back? Will he get involved in the Rollins vs. Triple H rivalry as an enemy or ally?

Monday's Raw offered no clue either way.

Balor is too talented to not be a part of the show, even if it's not in an official match. He looked like a certified main eventer before going down with injury last year. But WWE is going to have to hurry to find a home for him on the WrestleMania dance card; the PPV is only three weeks away.

Is Aries Destined to Face Neville?

Aries enjoyed a victory in his debut match on Raw. The former TNA world champ knocked off Ariya Daivari on Monday night.

He now has a major bout next on his schedule. He will take on four other cruiserweights in a Fatal 5-Way match on Tuesday's 205 Live. The winner will earn a shot at Neville for the Cruiserweight Championship at WrestleMania.

As much as the announcers talked up Aries and hinted at his chances of success on Monday, it looks like A Double is headed for a championship showdown shortly after leaving a role as a commentator.

Greg Parks of PWTorch is leaning toward that happening:

Aries did rile up Neville in the past few weeks as an announcer, so there's some history between them. Plus, Aries is more well-known than the majority of the cruiserweight division.

Jack Gallagher, Akira Tozawa and others will have to wait their turn.

How Will Face Turn Impact Brooke?

Brooke is no longer Charlotte Flair's stooge.

The powerhouse finally had enough of Flair's abuse and snapped on her after her match with Sasha Banks. Brooke blasted Flair, inspiring the crowd to chant her name.

And with that, Brooke morphed into a babyface poised to tell her own stories.

Will that lead to a push? She's been lodged deep into the background as Flair's right-hand woman. Will she somehow get involved in the Raw Women's Championship match between Flair, Banks and Bayley?

Brian Campbell of CBS Sports is among those worried about what's ahead for Brooke:

The story of her seconding Flair had run its course. It was definitely smart to try something new with her. The timing isn't great for her, though, as she's not likely to get a match on an already crowded WrestleMania card. Instead, the early stages of her solo run will have to give way to Raw's other more pressing stories.

It won't be until after the PPV that we'll see Brooke's tale gain real traction.

Where Does Strowman Fit In?

Strowman still wants a piece of Reigns. After Reigns took down Jinder Mahal, The Monster Among Men ran over his rival.

The two gladiators are now set to face off on next week's Raw.

Reigns has a far bigger bout ahead of him. WWE announced that The Big Dog will clash with Undertaker at WrestleMania.

Will Strowman's issues with Reigns lead to him joining that match? Is the Goliath poised to be Reigns' stepping stone, instead settling for a lesser spot at The Show of Shows?

Only one of Undertaker's 24 WrestleMania matches involved more than two wrestlers. A Triple Threat bout feels unlikely, although WWE could look to lessen The Deadman's load by adding Strowman. History says, though, WWE will want to showcase Reigns, not crowd his spotlight with a fellow beast.

In that case, Strowman's fate appears to be an entry in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal with Apollo Crews and the rest of the Superstars with nowhere else to go.
