Looking Back At 2009 And David Aardsma
"Ladies and gentlemen would you bring your attention to me for a feast for your eyes to see, an explosion of catastrophe like nothing you've ever seen before. Watch closely as I open the door. Your jaws will be on the floor. If you recognize this song you truly know your Seattle Mariners. This is the song the play when the D.A comes in. The question is where did this now premier closer come from. Well first he went to Cherry Creek High School which is the same school that Brad Lidge, and Josh Bard went to. Next he switched from penn state to rice after his fresman year, where he lead them to the college world series and set there all time single season and career saves. In the world series he had 2 wins and 1 save. Which he said is where he really learned to pitch under pressure. Also in 2002 he was named to the all american team. He was drafted in the first round of the 2003 draft behind players such as delmon youg, rickie weeks, and aaron hill. The Giants took him and he was amazing posting a 1.96 era with the single a club next year he skipped double a and triple a making the major league roster. In his first 6 outings he had a 1.80 era but then it got worse and and ended at 6.75 in 11 games. So he got sent down to triple A. He started next year at double a Norwich but then got traded the cubs where in 2006 he posted a 3-0 record with a 4.08 era in 45 appearnaces. Then he got traded to the white sox who later traded him to the Red sox in 2009 he got sent to seattle for minor leaguer Fabian Williamson. On april 10 he got his first save goin 2ip giving Chris Jakubaskas his first win. And then well lets just say Brandon Morrow happened after morrow struggled as the closer Aardsma offered to take over. After being projected to make the all star game he didn't. But he has turned into one of the premier closers in the majors finishing the year with 38 saves tied with Jonathon Pabelbon. When you compare those two Pabelbon gets paid 6,250,000 it shows how much the mariners are getting out of the D.A Also did you know Aardsma ranks first alphabetically in mlb history.
