Maximizing Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar Feud Through WWE WrestleMania 33

Donald WoodMar 6, 2017

On Monday's episode of WWE Raw, universal champion Goldberg went face-to-face with Brock Lesnar, and the two men teased their matchup at WrestleMania 33 with the help of mic master Paul Heyman.

After watching Goldberg get the upper hand throughout the feud thus far, it was ideal storytelling to see Lesnar lift the champ on his shoulders and throw him to the ground with a monstrous F-5.

Now that the matchup is less than a month away, here are the best booking options for the build to the WrestleMania bout between Goldberg and Lesnar.

Keep Goldberg and Lesnar Away from Each Other

The WWE Universe has seen Goldberg and Lesnar square off several times already. Not only did they get physical Monday, but they also fought in 2004, at Survivor Series 2016 and at the 2017 Royal Rumble.

After watching Goldberg take the F-5 from Lesnar, the playing field finally feels leveled despite the universal champion holding the decisive 2-0 lead in the series. For the rest of the build to WrestleMania, the two combatants shouldn't come to blows again until the go-home episode of Raw.

During the next two episodes of Raw, Goldberg and the duo of Heyman and Lesnar should cut promos on each other talking about the importance of the match and the championship. With the WWE Universe more and more intrigued by the matchup with each passing segment, the anticipation for their eventual contract signing would grow exponentially.

Finally, Goldberg and Lesnar would come face-to-face again on the go-home episode of Raw heading into WrestleMania.

Finally, Let Goldberg and Lesnar Loose

The typical contract signing in wrestling is a tried-and-true trope, and it is the perfect avenue to get Goldberg and Lesnar in the same ring one final time before WrestleMania.

Using Heyman to do all the heavy verbal lifting, Goldberg and Lesnar will be able to look like monsters as they stare holes into each other. After both men sign the contract, Goldberg can zing Lesnar with a one-liner and the brawl should commence.

Just as the WWE Universe witnessed in the pull-apart brawl between Lesnar and The Undertaker, the segment can be hugely effective when done correctly. With two of the most powerful forces in storylines colliding, security should be all over the building as the two men brawl throughout the arena and into the parking lot.

As one final effort to get casual fans excited about Goldberg vs. Lesnar for the Universal Championship, WWE should have the two combatants fight into the streets of Philadelphia where Raw will be held and create an iconic moment.

The WrestleMania match between Goldberg and Lesnar already has intrigue, but adding another layer is the perfect way to optimize the booking of the storyline.
